The iPod shuffle
posted by: David in Electronics on 07 2nd, 2009 | | No Comments »

One point is for sure about the updated iPod shuffle: it is without a doubt the smallest Apple iPod thus far. This device is about 1.8 in lenthand 0.3 in thicknes. so far the Apple shuffle is the world’s smallest music player. In order to make the Apple shuffle the smallest iPod yet, Apple has seriously changed the user interface and functionality of the shuffle by moving the guiding key and volume control onto the earbud chord. The position of the controlers are smartly put for fast and convenient access without the need to watch the screen to locate the controls. The truth that the iPod shuffle ships or can be purchased with 4 GB of space you can store up to one thousand songs, in addition to room for multiple playlistsas well.

The updated iPod shuffle is as stylish as before. The body is made from a sturdy anodized aluminum casing and the clips the player onto anything from a shirt collar to a tie. Come to think of it, the iPod shuffle looks like a tie clip! It comes in a mostly matte silver or black. The most innovative USB about this product is the new VoiceOver feature of the iPod shuffle. Apple unveils this as the exciting new trait that makes iPod shuffle the first “talking” MP3 player. Not being required to navigate through the playlists by looking at the screen, the shuffle speaks the title of the music and artist you are listening to when the user pushes a button. The VoiceOver trait does not disrupt the song that is broadcasting when it announces the detail that is associated with the song.

The iPod shuffle is synchronized with iTunes, the iTunes software program reads all the information pertaining to the songs that you want to synced with the iPod shuffle. Then the VoiceOver kit generates the announcements for the songs, singers, and playlists on the iPod shuffle. The VoiceOver feature has 14 languages and thus has the ability to speak music and artists’s names in multiple languages. The voice of the speaker on the iPod shuffle is different based on the type of computer system when sync the iPod shuffle. If you sync your iPod shuffle with a laptop computer or with a Apple PC running Mac OS X Tiger, you’ll hear the English lauguage included.

New iPod nano Will Take Pictures
posted by: David in Electronics on 06 27th, 2009 | | No Comments »

Nano iPod lovers are going to enjoy the next generation of the iPod Nano.  The new Nano is set to be released with a built-in camera function and already there are reports of this product hitting the iPod community.  The new iPod Nano is planned to be released sometime in September 2009.  In addition to the iPod Nano getting a camera, the iPod Touch is also to receive the same.  So far the reports have been released on numerous websites and each site has corroborated the other.

This will be the fifth generation of the iPod Nano and the reports about the camera come from a reliable source.  The camera will be located on the back of the iPod Nano, which is an unusual position.  The camera could easily be covered up by hands until the user gets used to holding the iPod by the corners in order to take pictures.  It will take some getting used to, but it is not impossible.  The screen on this next generation Nano will be widened to a 1.5:1 aspect ratio and the click wheel will be smaller with a small central button.

The camera that will be in the next generation iPod Nano will have the same functionality as the ones currently found in the iPhone, according to a new report.  While the idea of the tiny Nano getting a camera seems ludicrous to many industry insiders, it is actually the next logical step in development.  The iPod Touch is a PMP with a touch screen and if these new cameras help out the market, Apple could see a doubling of camera related applications in the iTunes App Store.  These applications are looking at exploding on the market with the new generation of iPhones and products, but the additional functionality will increase the consumer base.

There have been questions in the industry about whether or not Apple will be able to keep up with the demands of their customers due to possible saturation of the market.  By adding the camera capability to the Nano and the iTouch, Apple is opening up the market for more users to enjoy their products.  As the company continues to improve their offerings they will be able to attract a wider audience, especially if they are able to add productivity software to their iPods.  People will be able to stay in touch and stay productive wherever they are and this is highly appealing to users all over the world.

iPod’s popularity certainly has a major say in the Car audio industry today, not directly from apple but from the millions of iPod users. Due to the massive amounts of people who regularly use iPod’s on a daily if not hourly basis Car Audio Brands and Vehicle Manufacturers have had to redefine how car audio and entertainment works and what is expected from each component within the system.

Vehicle manufacturers are more aware of the demands of the public and use additional add-ons as a selling point in an aid to promote new ranges and vehicles. However the majority of factory iPod car kits are simply an AUX input into the audio system. This allows music to be played through the speaker system, which for some users is enough. However this option does not offer any of the more advanced features that aftermarket kits do.

So the big question is do vehicle manufacturers see a future with iPod car kits or are they waiting for the next big invention?

The investments from Car Audio Brands suggest that the iPod is going to be here for a minimum of several years. The larger brands such as Dension, Alpine & Kenwood have taken iPod integration to the next level, although in separate directions. Alpine & Kenwood have built fully iPod compatible aftermarket stereos, with new features such as imprint technology & HD screens that allow users to configure the components depending music quality and type. Combined with Made for iPod & iPhone you can get the most out of your iPod by finding and playing music and videos much easier than ever before.

Dension however has made larger strides by combining iPod technology with factory fitted equipment. The Dension Gateway range provides an iPod connection into your factory fitted stereo, ensuring that the original look is maintained. The Dension Kits also provide Steering wheel control for the iPod and music, Text display on a lot of vehicles including the new CAN cluster display vehicles within the VW & Audi Group and the retention of your CD Changer via a CD Retention Kit at additional cost.

However it’s the new components that Dension are developing that offer the greater indication of where iPod integration may be heading?

The soon to be released AVR is designed to work with the gateway 500 fibre optic kit allows different sources of entertainment to be played simultaneously, So for example the adults might want to listen to their favourite music in the front of the vehicle while the kids enjoy their favourite DVD in the back. This step is a major advance in the car entertainment world and will open up several avenues for further development in the future.

Another one of Dension’s products nearing completion is the Wi-Drive, this device when complete will allow you to integrate your vehicle into the wireless home network, and this has many advantages at first glance. Such as instant file transfer from computer to vehicle and vice versa. However this device holds many more possibilities than first anticipated. A wireless internet network connection can be made with the use of mobile USB dongle currently available from various mobile networks providing internet access to all of the users in your vehicle.

The possibilities of car audio and entertainment & iPod integration in the future are endless, devices such as the AVR and the Wi-Drive will open up many avenues for the next stage of development. For example;

Security devices could be invented that provide live streaming from the vehicle to your own computer monitoring your vehicles safety combined with “web cams” installed in your vehicle you could see exactly what happening to your car live. Live streaming or the download of music and videos from iTunes could be played on TV screens installed in the vehicle through the use of the Wi-drive and AVR while you’re on your journey, simply select and go through your iPod to choose all the latest Apple iTunes has to offer.

Television channels broadcasting live online could be watch instantly allowing new entertainment channels to be integrated into future vehicles, controllable at various points in the car. Maybe the kids want to watch different TV channels? No Problem now.

One thing is clear, the Car audio and entertainment business is moving on. New and improved technology being created continually and the iPod certainly can be at the centre of it all.

Dension products are available from the number one Online iPod Car Kit Store

iPod to Car Connection
posted by: David in Electronics on 06 14th, 2009 | | No Comments »

If you own an iPod then you likely already know about the tons of products and add-ons that are available. There are many scenarios to choose from when it comes to connecting your iPod to your car. Since the iPod comes in a variety of types, there are scores of iPod adapters and connectors that make it easy to connect it to virtually any car in the world. Many manufacturers can provide the adapter needed for your iPod car connection. Most of the adapters available send the audio from your iPod to the FM stereo in your car using an FM transmitter.

There are also many docking systems that have bonus features such as the ability to program a frequency into your iPod where the FM transmitter should be tuned. By simply choosing the frequency, much like you would for a song, the frequency will change. Some adapters also have digital displays that show you the frequency and many will permit you to synchronize your iPod with your chosen iTunes or even charge the battery while you have it docked. Of course, nothing works perfectly in the world and like many other technical products; there are a few kinks in iPod connections as well.

One noted problem is that you have to tune the transmitter as well as the receiver to an FM frequency that is unused. This poses a problem simply because there are very few unused frequencies in many parts of the nation. If you are traveling, particularly long distances, you may likely find that the frequency you have chosen for your iPod connection is used by a radio station. If and when this happens, you will hear the radio station that has that frequency, typically with sound distortion like the one you would get with a frequency that is far away and hard to tune. You will then have to find another frequency that is unused in the area that you are traveling.

Of course, this does not mean that you should not attempt to connect your iPod to your car. Just be certain that before you purchase an iPod adapter, you know exactly what type or version of iPod you own. Some units work only with the third and fourth generation of iPods. Other units may work with the Mini or the Shuffle. It is important that you choose the correct adapter for the version of iPod that you have, to ensure that you get a proper connection in your car and can enjoy your favorite tunes while driving.

Believe it or not, iPod headphones are not created equal. Depending on the brand, type, and model, different iPod headphones are designed with varying features. If you plan to buy headphones for your iPod, it is best that you know which features to look for, so you won’t regret getting something that would destruct your listening pleasure.

Choosing the best headphones for your iPod requires you ensure that the following features are present on the headphones:

Noise cancellation feature: An excellent pair of headphones can cancel out noise when it is worn over the ears, such that the listener would be able to hear only the songs from his iPod and not anything else from his surroundings. Though headphones with this feature may seem a little costly, it is worth to invest in such accessory that would provide you only with the best entertainment pleasure.

Woofer: Not all headphones have a woofer. It is a speaker driver designed to allow the listener to hear low-frequency sounds. Woofer provides the highest sound clarity, ensuring a concert-level experience. Now, if you’re that type of person who wants to grasp and hear every detail of the song you listen to, then go get a pair of headphones that come with a woofer feature.

Wired or Wireless? The decision whether you need to buy a wired or a wireless set of headphones is entirely up to. But, of course, you would have to consider a few factors, like what is your lifestyle like? If, for example, you lead an active lifestyle, you go to the gym often, or you play sports while you listen to your iPod, then it is best that you get a wireless pair of headphones. This way, you won’t get tangled up with its wire and may continue doing your activities while enjoying the pleasure brought by listening to your iPod.

Comfort: Nothing beats a pair of headphones that will give you not only high-quality sounds, but utmost comfort, as well. For maximum comfort, make sure to choose a pair of headphones that is light and easy to wear over the head, but at the same time, won’t quickly slip off when you move around.

Choosing the best headphones for your iPod should never be too difficult especially if you know which features to look for. Moreover, remember that it is better to spend more for higher quality than spend less for something that could barely provide you with your needs. For great headphone choices, visit Apple stores and ask for one that is compatible with your iPod model.

Deciphering the iPod effect. In the early 21st century Apple PCs were not faring well worldwide. During the first two quarters of iPod sales—in 2002—Apple’s PC sales made up approximately 2.23% of all PC sales worldwide. In  2003, Apple’s PC sales fell down below 2 percent for the first time in early 2000. On the other hand, something curious started to occur two years after iPods where first promoted on the global market. In 2004, Apple’s PC sales began to pick up—at least in the US in the regions that wholesale iPods appeared to be popular. Until 2005, 3 years after the promotion of the iPod, sales of Apple PCs almost doubled to 4% of all PC sales in the US.

Some speculate that the increase in Apple PC sales is in part due to the popularity of iPods; that a part of those who bought iPods where then turned onto the idea of having an Apple PC. However, during early 2000, buyers of PC sales rose, irrespective of PC sales. Was the iPod effect truly caused by turning PC loyalists onto Apple PCs or were Apple PC sales surging as a result of the strong performance of all computer sales?

Some argue that for many PC owners, purchasing an iPod constituted their first experience in to the world of Steve Jobs. Most studies conducted which tried to testify this fact did in fact find a correlation between first time iPod owners put up their interest in Apple products. One inquisition showed that iPod possessors with Windows PCs were over three times as likely to purchase a Mac.

In fact, after its introduction a little over five years ago, the iPod still controls the MP3/MP4 player market. Not only has Apple reinvented itself with the iPod, the domination of iTunes software, both for PC and Mac users, as a media player and music as well as multi-media purchasing and downloading software. In the first half of 2007, over 50 percent of Apple’s total revenue came from iPod sales and iTunes music downloads. Along with music videos and Podcasts, iTunes is changing the way that music is purchased as well as consumed—meanwhile, having a intensive effect on the music industry. By April 2007, it was already obvious that iPods where the best selling music player in the entire history of MP3 players as Steve Jobs.

The Development of iPod Models
posted by: David in Electronics on 06 1st, 2009 | | No Comments »

iPod, a brand name of portable music player designed and sold by Apple Inc, has remained a widely sought-after digital gadget in the globe for nearly a decade. The classic outlook and amazing functions have made the music player a milestone in the history of music players. A lot of young people are passionate about iPod and take it as a fashion item. Today, an iPod model does not cost as much as before any more, and wholesale iPod has turned out an increasingly profitable business.

The first model of iPod was released on October 23, 2001. So far, the iPod has come out with a variety of models including Shuffle, Nano, Classic and Touch, each of which has its special characteristics. For example, iPod Touch features a touch screen and iPod Nano is video-enable. Popularly-known characteristics of major iPod models include the compact size, the ultra light weight, the compact interface and the scroll wheel. In addition, models in the iPod family are especially well-known for their simple and easy-to-use interface. Even young children and old people can easily learn how to use any iPod model. The user-friendly interface and the scroll wheel have made it easy for iPod users to enter into the iPod main menu and to become familiar with main functions of the music player quickly.

Different from traditional music players like Walkman, a model from the iPod series needs no cassettes or cds. The older versions of iPod models use a built-in hard drive for the storage of media while the more advanced models use flash memory for the storage such as iPod Touch, Nano and Shuffle.

At the beginning, an iPod model cost as high as $400, which turned down a wide range of potential users. Gradually, to meet the growing requirements for affordable and multi-feature handy music players, Apple developed a number of new iPod models. These new iPod models, of course, were improved with innovative designs and more useful functions like PC support and color display, which are not only widely sought-after among general users but affordable to this group of customers. The improvements quickly made iPod a brilliant star in the market of portable music players. Currently models of iPod have kept a best-selling record among all same category items in many countries.

The marketing of iPod is believed to have contributed a significant part to the success of iPod. In the past years, we saw a number of interesting ads about iPod appearing one after another. Almost every ad copy about iPod is featured by the most classic tunes playing in the background, which is not only charming but also extremely creative.

2 years ago, Apple released the multimedia cell phone iPhone in the United States. This landmark mobile phone is in practice a combination of two products: a cellular phone and an iPod model. Soon the first touch screen iPod, the iPod touch, was launched, designed with the multi-touch graphical touch screen function of iPhone. In addition, this model is also the first iPod model providing Internet access via the Wi-Fi wireless network. Based on this trend, we can see that Apple is attempting to transform the iPod from merely a portable music player into a PC-based multi-media player enabled with music files, wireless network.
